New Orleans
A trip to the "Crescent City" reminds you that the American spirit is alive and well.
Perhaps more than any other American city, it lays claim to countless cultural riches, fascinating history and heritage, and an atmosphere of revelry and indulgence defined by perhaps its most famous event – Mardi Gras. But there’s an important addition to make to this list of charms, and that’s New Orleans’ resiliency. In the wake of natural
disaster, the city has bounced back with even more fervor and southern hospitality.
Certainly stepping to the beat of their own drummer, New Orleans is also known as the "birthplace of Jazz." And in a city full of this many eccentricities, you can definitely count on finding your own unique rhythm. That’s due in large part to the huge mix of people that have called New Orleans home over the years.
From the French immigrants who migrated south from Canada early on, the Cajun lifestyle was born. Likewise, some of the oldest and strongest African American ties to this country lie in New Orleans. For all it’s differences, New Orleans is truly one of a kind.
